Statement of Faith

CCOF International

Thank you for your interest in fellowshipping with Calvary Chapel. We are not a denomination, but rather a family of churches bound by the love of Christ and a shared philosophy of ministry. Since we are not a denomination, we do not financially support, nor govern fellowshipped churches. Each church is independent and accountable only in areas of doctrine, philosophy of ministry, and morality.

Doctrine:

We believe the Bible to be the only inspired, infallible and authoritative word of God.

We believe there is one God who eternally exists in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ, the second person of the Holy Trinity, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died a sacrificial death for the sins of the world, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven and is coming again to judge the living and the dead and to establish God’s kingdom of righteousness and peace on Earth.

We believe in the depravity of man. That man in his essential being is sinful and incapable of meriting God’s favor.

We believe that salvation is by grace, through faith alone in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.

We believe in the sovereignty of God and the free will of man.

We believe that there is a baptism of the Holy Spirit that is subsequent to salvation.

We believe in the perpetuity of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and that the gifts of the Spirit are essential to fulfill Christ’s purpose for the church.

We believe that the church exists to worship God, edify itself in love and to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.

We believe in the sufficiency of the Scriptures and the Holy Spirit to supply is with all things that pertain to life and godliness.

We believe in the pre-millennial return of Christ to the earth and the pre-tribulational rapture of the church.

Philosophy of Ministry:

We believe that the book of Acts of the Apostles as well as the epistles of the New Testament, give us the principles by which the church is to function.

We place great importance on the exposition of the Scriptures and a specific emphasis on verse-by-verse, chapter-by-chapter teaching through the entire Bible.

We rely strongly upon the ministry of the Holy Spirit and seek to remain flexible to His leading. We believe that the Holy Spirit’s leading will always be consistent with the clear teaching of the Scripture.

We are convinced that, where God guides, He provides. Therefore, we trust in the Lord to provide for and to build His church.

We seek to worship and serve the Lord within the context of our culture, yet we recognize that the culture must conform to the Scriptures, not the Scriptures to the culture.

Morality:

The Scriptures place a high moral standard on those who would be ministers of the Gospel. Therefore, we expect moral and ethical integrity among those with whom we fellowship.

We reserve the right to disfellowship any who become doctrinally aberrant, philosophically incompatible or morally compromised.
